Albuquerque KOA Journey

Secure campground, nice site, clean restrooms, plenty of activities for kids.

I like the campground, clean, well organized, the missing two stars are not because of the campground, but because of it's location.

1. It is not in a great part of town.

2. It is right off I-40, very convenient, but very noisy.

And then there is the traffic on I-40, ugh.

We'll stay there again, it is a very nice facility, and works very well for an overnight. The location just isn't my favorite.

Extremely clean, well organized, nice sites, lots of trees. 4 dog walks. Only drawback. The pool is not heated. So they lost a star.

Ok KOA conveniently located. Bathtub is good. Wifi was not working. Comfortable option but overall pricey for what you get.

Great and friendly staff. Very clean campground, bathrooms and showers. Next to I-40 so easy access in and out. Road noise wasn’t bad but we have thermal covers on windows and our rig is well insulated.

Super clean, super friendly and close to everything! A little traffic noise but not bad since so close to highway. Very safe.

Called them up first thing this morning. Sandy the gal on the desk got us set up quickly. Only draw back to this place is the sites are very tight.

Well maintained campground with paved sites, family and pet friendly. A bit noisy because of I-40 very close. Centrally located, so not far to local attractions. 2nd stay and will choose again when returning.

So, the park itself (inside the huge gates protecting you from the surrounding area) is nice. Decent for kids, spots are nice sizes, they do keep it clean.

The bad? Where do I begin. It's in an area where gunshots and people shooting up in broad daylight are the norm. Park employees and management are micro managers. Plus they outright lied to us about a monthly spot. And it's so beyond overpriced I can't even explain. The pet areas are an absolute JOKE. We felt so unsafe, and annoyed with employees, we left.

Paved parking spots with gravel around. Transit sites are very convenient, restrooms dated but clean. Whole site was well kept. Very convenient on and off route 40 and convenient to downtown Albuquerque. Good WiFi

So, the park inside is ok. Pros: they do keep it clean, bath and laundry are nice, kids park and jump pillow are nice etc. Cons: the strees and area surrounding the park aren't just dirty, but dangerous. We heard gunshots, saw people shooting up with needles in broad daylight, homeless everywhere, urinating in parking lots etc. So don't plan on being on foot outside the park gates. Also, inside the park, their new upper management are micro managers. Don't do this, don't do that. And lied to us about no weekly or monthly spots available. People pulled in after us and paid those rates but we got stuck with $1700 for 3 weeks. A huge rip off. They triple the cost of propane, ice etc. We went through the hassle of moving to another park in the area just to be done with them. Good luck if u have dogs that need walked. Pet areas are a joke but you're not technically allowed to let your dog potty outside of those areas. Someone hollered that our male peed on a tree en route to the pet run. How do u stop a male dog from hiking? Finally, sites are super tight. And the sewer hookup for the site next to us was literally inches from OUR picnic table. All sites are that way. Your neighbors sewer hookup is right outside your front door. And if you've got a large rig with side or rear patios, don't even think you'll be using them.

We only got to stay one night at this Campground but it was awesome. The staff were friendly and helpful and the store was well stocked. They have nice laundry facilities and lots of spots for the doggies to play. They had a playground hot tub and a bounce pad for the kids. It was safe and quiet we will definitely stay again.

This KOA has a unbelievable amount of spaces, most likely due to the fact in October there is the Balloon Fiesta. This is a comfortable campground I would suggest a premium site over the regular sites as there isn't much room in the regular sites. We have stayed in both and prefer the premium sites. There is some hiway noise but it's not bad. Lol you do have an occasional airplane come over as well. If you get the right spots you get a beautiful view of the Sandia Mountains (aka watermelon colored Mountains as the sunsets on the mountains are beautiful)

Very clean all around big pull in sites. Staff friendly and helpful.

We stayed at Albuquerque KOA for one night while on our way to AZ. We payed $112, which we thought was overpriced, even though we stayed during the Balloon Fiesta. The park was clean and well-maintained. It was in a safe location that was easily accessible from I 40. The sites were spacious and the staff was very friendly and helpful.

Grounds have no grass all rocks next to slab pull in site. Can hear all the cars on the interstate. Not a quiet place but easy in and easy out to the interstate

Clean campground. Pull through sites. Very few with Fure rings. Lots of campers coming and going. Clean showers and toilets. Nice pool

This is our second year staying here and it is still amazing. They have a hot tub, dog wash, games, swimming pool, and playground! The sites are a little small if you are in an RV, but all in all a great camping ground.

We had a good time at this KOA. Enjoyed the pool (hot tub wasn’t working), bounce pad, mini golf, horseshoes. The store was useful too. Staff was friendly. Past reviews mentioned that this KOA was in a terrible neighborhood, but it didn’t seem so bad to us and we had no incidents. CG is gated and staffed 24/7. Showers and bathrooms were nice and clean (although some had a few puddles in them from campers who showered and didn’t fix the shower curtain correctly. Laundry was helpful (quarters needed). I’d stay again.

Pretty typical Journey KOA. The camp has a pool, showers,play ground, flush toilets, showers and various camping sites to fit your needs. They seem to have 2 types of cabins here. Trees are pretty sparse, so shade is limited. It's also pretty clear that they are using quite a few sites for storing RVs / Trailers on site. Can't say that I've ever seen that at a KOA site before. It's right next to the interstate so there is definitely road noise. Plenty of semi trucks and pretend race cars zipping by. We are in an overlanding vehicle with a tent on the back but we're able to sleep. Granted we were pretty tired. All in all this is a pretty nice place and a good jumping off point for all things ABQ.

Gated facility but there is an attendant to let you in, get you registered and guide you to your site. Was also able to buy wood from them. There were not any fire rings or bbqs in the middle electric/water sites but was able to use our propane pit. Pads are asphalt and close to level. Batbrooms were clean and pool was refreshing after a long days drive. Staff is friendly and come by to pick up your trash so you don't have to haul it to the dumpster.

Large location with a lot sites. Close to freeway so some noise, but not bad. Very clean nice host.

After a very long day on the road. Welcomed at 9pm great sites, very clean. It is right next to the freeway which is a plus but some noise.

The water connection for the fresh water is about an inch away from the sewer dump and is at the same level. Sewer contamination is probably very high. Would not hook my water to this no matter what.

We stayed here for a couple days while on a longer trip. Good spots this place is HUGE lots and lots of pull through spots. They have a locked gate at the front which is a good thing since central street can be a little iffy with night life after dark. Very quite for being right next to I40 quite a busy place for sure. Facilities are nice and staff was very friendly although a escort to our site would have been nice since it is large enough you can easily get lost or go the wrong way. All in all will stay here again

We've been full-timing for four years, and this was my first KOA stay. We were hesitant about the destination, since it was located in such a densely populated part of town. However the campground was clean, secure, the staff and other campers were friendly and courteous. Some of the facilities, like a satellite bathhouse and the hot tub were out of service during our visit, but it was of little consequence. We were in town for work. Starbucks was a very short drive away. We'd merrily stay there again if the need arises.

The campground was pretty much a large parking lot, with rows of RVs. Our reservation said we would have a fire ring or grill but were told the one nearby was just for tent campers. There was a communal propane grill, and propane available for purchase, but the store was already closed when we realized the situation. A fire ban prevented us from using our own charcoal grill. On the plus side, my kids enjoyed a game of mini golf, the bathrooms were clean and staff friendly.

On our full hook up site the dump sight was in a bad place. We would of had to un hook from our truck to fully hook up. We only stayed one night and didn’t use any of the facilities.

We stayed at this KOA for two nights during a cross country trip as we passed through Albuquerque in October 2020. The only reason I give 4 out of 5 stars and not 5 out of 5 stars is the urban location is not much to look at. The campground itself is very well-maintained and the staff are extraordinarily friendly. It was incredibly convenient that there were a number of large RV dealerships in the immediate vicinity, so we were able to pick up some supplies that are not easily found at Walmart locations. We stayed in a large pull thru site that actually had a dedicated "pet suite" with astroturf for our dog. That's the first time we had seen that on a trip and we were pleased with the amenity having come from so many places that don't have grass anywhere.

I made a reservation earlier in the day, pulled in after dark and was greeted by a gentleman on a golf cart. He asked my name, retrieved my registration info, and had me follow him to my campsite. So easy! Otherwise it's a nice clean RV park. If interstate road noise will bother your sleep, you might want to get more off the beaten path as the interstate runs right past this location.
